Gun Control Activist Claims Second Amendment Misinterpreted, Conservatives Disagree

Our patriots continue to fight for our gun rights. Nothing’s stopping them, no matter how hard the dems try.

Missouri House Won’t Stop Minors From Carrying Guns

Missouri’s Republican-controlled House of Representatives voted against a proposed ban on minors carrying firearms in public spaces without adult supervision by a margin of 104-39… with only one Republican voting in favor.

Democratic Representative Donna Baringer reported that police in her district requested the ban. This is to prevent children from carrying guns on the street. She said, “14-year-olds walking down the middle of the street in the city of St. Louis carrying AR-15s” were encouraged to do so. However, some Republicans argued that banning children from carrying guns would infringe on gun rights… despite concerns that children with guns pose a risk.

In 2017, Missouri lawmakers repealed the requirement for concealed carry in most circumstances. This proposal to ban minors from carrying firearms in public was part of a broader debate on how best to combat crime—particularly in the St. Louis area that lasted for hours in the House.

Republican Representative Lane Roberts is a former police chief and state public safety director. He included restrictions on children possessing guns in a broader crime bill.

However, other Republicans in the House committee that Roberts leads stripped the gun provision last week. They cited concerns about infringement on gun rights.

Other provisions in the bill include allowing the governor to appoint a special prosecutor in counties with high crime rates… specifically targeting St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner.

While some Republicans believe that the ban would infringe on gun rights… concerns remain that minors carrying firearms pose a threat. This issue was discussed at length in the House in the context of broader efforts to combat crime in Missouri.

The Left Targets Our Second Amendment Rights

Gun control activist David Hogg claimed the Second Amendment was “intentionally misinterpreted.” Moreover, he claims the law was created to “protect state militias” and historians.

The activist recently wrote a Twitter thread. He insisted that the ‘well-regulated militia’ clause was included for a reason. The “shall not be infringed” part of the amendment means that the federal government cannot disarm state militias.

However, Hogg’s claim has been disputed by many who argue that the Second Amendment does protect the right to bear arms as an individual right.

Various liberal media outlets and figures have made a similar claim that the Second Amendment, as it was written, protects the “well-regulated militia” rather than an individual right to own a gun.
